Calculation study of heater plate

Calculation procedure

Two-stage calculation was performed:

  • Calculation of heating conditions

  • Calculation of tense-deformed state

As a result of calculation of heating conditions, temperature fields were determined. These fields were used as a load for the calculation of tense-deformed state.

Calculation of heating conditions

Potential difference in current leads was defined as a load in the calculation of heating conditions. The process is not stationary. Time change of temperature due to tension was monitored.

Calculation of tense-deformed state

Temperature fields determined in the calculation of heating conditions were used as a load in the calculation of tense-deformed state.

Conclusions

The calculation showed that tension in the heater exceed the ultimate strength. This results in damage to the heater according to the results of experiment. To ensure operability of the heater in all conditions it is necessary to change its geometry or to use the heater made from a different material. A range of special calculations is needed to determine an optimal geometry with the use of different materials.
