Calculation of building for progressive collapse

Progressive collapse calculation was performed in accordance with the recommendations of
building protection against progressive collapse issued by the Committee for Architecture and City Planning of the Government of Moscow (MOSCOMARCHITECTURE).

One of the most loaded pillars is removed from the model for modeling of emergency case of pillar destruction.

Some calculation results for the building exposed to local hypothetic destruction are shown below.

In this presentation only one variant of building damage is shown. A comprehensive calculation includes the study of many emergency situations in accordance with the recommendations of building protection against progressive collapse.

The calculation showed that building collapse did not occur if the most loaded pillar was removed. Design stresses do not exceed the ultimate strength.
